Cillessen named Man of the Match for performance at Stamford Bridge
Tuesday's Man of the Match in the game between Valencia CF and Chelsea was goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, who made several important saves as his side beat the reigning Europa League champions for the first time.
The six stops by Cillessen earned him the honour, awarded by UEFA, and included saves from Willian, Olivier Giroud and two Marcos Alonso free kicks. It was the joint highest amount of interventions he had made in a single Champions League game, along with a match against FC Barcelona when with Ajax, then with the Catalan side against Tottenham last season.
The latter fixture was his most recent Champions League appearance, and he picked up from where he left off with his new club, opening Valencia CF's European campaign for this year in style.
